As we complete our final preparations, we hope you will take a moment to read the following suggestions so you can get the most out of your VIMM participation. We’d like to suggest the following. + Start at the main entrance to the VIMM http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm.html + Check the Schedule The complete agenda for the VIMM is available at: http://www.internet2.edu/activities/php/agenda.php?session_event_id=74 and explore the agenda for each room. For example, click on the Ballroom to see the list of plenaries http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-ballroom.html or click Advanced Applications to see the list of applications sessions http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-apps.html Exploring the VIMM room by room will also show you the various netcast options that are available for each session. Netcast options are being continuously updated and added, so check back often. + Getting Ready If you are new to netcasting and videoconferencing, check out the VIMM Beginners Guide at http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-beginners.html You may have the option of watching the VIMM from a Participation Site on your campus; refer to the Participation sites page http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-sites.html to see if this option is available in your area. If you will be participating in the VIMM from your home or office, take a few moments to test your connection to the netcast today. In most cases, you probably already have RealPlayer or Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and all you need to do is enter the link that will connect you to the netcast. Refer to the VIMM testing web page http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-testing.html for more information. The VIMM netcast help page http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-netcasthelp.html describes all available options for accessing the netcast, and tells you where to download client software, if you need to. + Stay Interactive During the VIMM, keep your email program open so that you can send questions to the speakers . Keep your web browser open so that you can participate in an online chat with other members of the VIMM audience. (During the track sessions, you'll also need your web browser so you can view the presenters’ slides.) If you are at a location with H.323 videoconferencing facilities, take advantage of the Video Lounges for informal meetings or just to socialize. The video lounges are not scheduled and are available on a first come, first served basis. http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-video-lounges.html + Provide Feedback Please complete the survey add http://www.internet2.edu/activities/html/vimm-survey.html and give us your overall evaluation of the Virtual Member Meeting and tell us how you participated. Your feedback is extremely important, and will help us better prepare for future events. Many members of the Internet2 community have worked with us in order to make the Virtual Internet2 Member Meeting a reality. We extend our heartfelt thanks to them. Finally, we thank you, the VIMM audience, for joining us in this new venue for our Fall 2001 Member Meeting.
