These images have been extracted by low-cost consumer MPEG editing software from the on-demand MPEG file recorded during the event broadcast. The images had been put through H.261 video coding & decoding, conversion to NTSC baseband, MPEG-1 coding & decoding, and finally, conversion to 320x240 Windows <.bmp> files. Quality has been compromised in the various coding/decoding stages. This will be an area for on-going work while we await the emergence of H.263 4CIF video coding for 768 Kbps conferences and MPEG-2 coding for streams and on-demand files. At that point, common broadcast quality will have been exceeded.
