KALEIDA Hospitals Breaks Out
from Behind Firewall!
5/31/2001
This was another breakthrough
milestone event! Emergency Medicine Grand Rounds are now hosted at Buffalo
General Hospital, a KALEIDA Hospital, and that's one of our next targets for
inclusion in our living-laboratory Extended Grand Rounds demonstration/trial
project. The connectivity was achieved with H.320 Gateways to interconnect
H.323 endpoints and MCU's, so you could say we cheated a bit. A lot of
work and time investments remain before we manage to achieve direct H.323 and
stream connectivity through their firewall but it's a beginning.
Until now, we had not been able to inter-connect our Zones even with Gateways.
