About The Annual Megaconference
Edited & Last Updated 7/02/2001 by jow

Bob Dixon's work at Ohio State University has been an inspiration for much of what I attempt to do within the Western New York region.  Long before he conceived of the annual global Megaconference event, Bob was tirelessly encouraging and supporting IP-video early adopters around the world and offering them a collection of trusted facilities for their early tests and trials.  The global early adopter community and the future beneficiaries of all of our work owe this man a lot.

Bob Dixon's marvelous graphic for the annual Megaconference, the worlds largest living laboratory for IP-video early adopters, is immediately below. Click the graphic to get to last year's conference coordination site.  You won't learn how to succeed with IP video reading Web pages.  C'mon in now and join the global trials!

Last year's Megaconference-II was a series of on-line presentations on practical successes with IP video for the Fall Internet2 Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.  Of the 13 presentations delivered, two were by Western New York & UB presenters and a third was about work with us.  We were the only region to offer more than one success report!  I believe that speaks to the success of our regional efforts and investments.  See the Megaconference related reports and editorials in the WNY-HPNVI library for more information on our regional Megaconference II experiences.  Also take the time to read Bob Dixon's EDUCAUSE Article.

In the Spring of 2001, I happily wrote a letter supporting Bob's nomination for an EDUCAUSE Leadership in Information Technologies award.  I've included that letter here, in large part because I believe that most of the folks who are doing so much good are unsung heroes and because I think they should know how much the rest of us believe in and depend upon what they are doing for early adopters.

This is a Web site developmental model.  The Web site will likely always be a few steps behind or ahead of the design sketched out in an accompanying design planning outline.  This site will be viewed best using IE 5+.    Please direct any and all comments to:  whitlock@buffalo.edu
