Region of Peel, Public Sector
Dark Fiber Build Visit, date TBD. We plan to organize a group visit to the
Region of Peel, just West of Toronto to meet Roy Wiseman and to learn about the
extraordinary regional Public Sector Dark Fiber build that he and his team have
underway. Roy is Director of Information Technology Services for the
Region of Peel and his presentation at last year's CANARIE conference on issues,
problems, roadblocks, economics, politics, and benefits associated with public
benefit regional Dark Fiber builds, while not embracing private investment, was
among the best I heard. We've already established contact with Roy and
he's looking forward to a visit. Review his presentation
and stay tuned to local lists for planning details.
