20050202 Al Quds University Megaconference Check-in Clip:
Video capture clips of Engineer Ghassan Al-Deek and Mr Isam Ishaq at Al Quds University during their historic check-in to the 2004 Megaconference VI.  To our knowledge, this is the first time that any institution or individual in Palestine has participated in an international conference and been introduced to the global next-generation Internet development community.  Many people in the global community helped out but special thanks are due to Dr. Robert Dixon at Ohio State University and to Mr. Juergen Hornung at Deutsches Forschungsnetz, Germany`s National Research and Education Network, for making this historic event possible with available time and resources.   University at Buffalo was graciously encouraged to announce the formation of the Bethlehem Alliance immediately after Al Quds' introduction and our participation in the Megaconference resulted in the donation of a major piece of equipment to the Bethlehem Alliance effort.  More details will follow as time permits.

Snapshot from video clips that are linked below of Al Quds' introduction to the Megaconference VI on December 9, 2004 at approximately 0830 EST.  Engineer Ghassan Al-Deek and Mr. Isam Ishaq are shown making their introductory remarks.

The clips linked immediately below were captured in MPEG-2, full D1 format, by a VBrick 6200 real-time encoder cross-connected to a Polycom VSX-7000 that was, in turn, being used as a capture-tap on the Deutsches Forschungsnetz MCU to which Al Quds achieved a usable IP connection.  The University at Buffalo interactive conference endpoint was connected directly to an MCU in the OARNET Megaconference central MCU cluster.
